Arts & Culture in Rock Hill, South Carolina

Arts Council of Rock Hill and York County
Founded in 1977, the Arts Council has grown to serve all of York County and the surrounding area. The mission of the Rock Hill Arts Council is to foster the growth of the arts, promoting the arts as a critical factor in the quality of life, through arts education and the presentation of visual and performing arts to all people in Rock Hill and York County and the surrounding counties.

Located in historic downtown Rock Hill, the Center for the Arts is housed in two restored 100-year-old buildings. It houses offices, galleries and professional artist studios. Exhibitions in the Dalton Gallery change on an eight-week basis. Classroom space in the lower level of the Center for the Arts is used for a variety of arts-related classes . Clover School District Auditorium
Clover School District Auditorium opened in the fall of 1994. Since that time, the 1,500-seat facility has been fulfilling its mission of educating, enlightening, enriching, and entertaining the entire community.

Tom S. Gettys Center
The Tom S. Gettyis used as a Community Center for the City of Rock Hill. The courtroom is available for gatherings and receptions. The Potter’s Center is located here and houses potter’s who work and teach their art.

Winthrop University
Through the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Winthrop University offers a variety of arts programs each year. Winthrop Galleries, located in the Rutledge Building, exhibit the work of local, regional and national artists. The Edmund D. Lewandowski Student Gallery, located in McLaurin Hall, displays the works of Department of Art and Design students and local young people. The Department of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance schedule campus performances by guest artists, faculty members and students throughout the year. About Come-See-Me
The Come-See-Me Festival was first held in 1962 as a community project to invite visitors, relatives and friends to see Rock Hill during its most beautiful season. It started as a weekend event and has expanded to 10 days. The Come-See-Me Festival is considered the largest, all-volunteer festival in South Carolina and attracts over 125,000 participants and visitors each year. The festival has been ranked in the Southeast's Top 20 Spring Festivals. In addition to the Come-See-Me Festival, the city of Rock Hill also honors Grant during the annual Christmasville, a four-day event featuring the artist's work.
